Brian grew up in western Maryland. Since 2003 he and his family have lived along Florida’s coastline in the Hammock communities of Palm Coast and in Ponce Inlet. In 2005 Brian’s goal was simple: create the premier and preferred insurance agency in Flagler and Volusia counties. While the mission has been accomplished the agency isn’t resting in its efforts to ensure they are always the “go to” agency. As an entrepreneur since he was a teenager, Brian’s business experience enables the agency to consistently perform at a very high standard making Kopec Insurance the preferred agency in the area. The agency is recognized by Progressive Insurance as a Platinum Blue Agency, one of their top agencies in the country.
Brian graduated from Saint Mary’s College of Maryland, a public honors college, with a B.A. in Economics and concentration in Business Management. He sailed competitively on the college’s Offshore Team, crewing on the 85 foot Challenge America, the America’s Cup contender which the college held in its fleet. He enjoys traveling throughout the United States, Costa Rica, Mexico, Barbados, Dominican Replublic and Europe including Germany, France, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Spare time is spent surfing with his son at Ponce Inlet, boating with his wife or losing a few golf balls! Brian enjoys architecture and the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and E. Faye Jones, visiting a number of their projects.
Prior to launching Kopec Insurance in 2005, Brian was Principal of a land development company in addition to being President & CEO of an award winning landscape design, installation and management firm serving discerning clients in the Maryland and Washington, DC metro markets for nearly 20 years. In 2004 he sold the company to one of the five largest, most respected landscape contractors in the country. His business principles have always complimented his creative side and led an Entrepreneur Council to recognize him as one of top entrepreneurs in Maryland based on ingenuity, innovation, overall success and viability, perseverance, longevity of the entrepreneur’s business, outstanding reputation within the business community and contributions to the economic health of the community. Brian served on the Palm Coast Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 2009 to 2011, American Strategic Insurance Company’s Agents Advisory Council in 2012 and 2013 and Florida Peninsula Insurance Company’s Agency Advisory Council in 2012. Brian has been a guest multiple times on WNZF News Radio’s Real Estate Matters show.

Steve spent his childhood in Detroit, Michigan before moving to Pittsburgh as a teenager. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. It was in Pittsburgh where he met his wife (and became a Steelers and Pirates fan!). His professional career began in Maryland right after college where he’d spend nearly 40 years, 31 of which he held the position of VP / Senior Program Director at a global defense and space electronics company. His detailed thought process was sought after by his son, whose company was going through a major expansion, leading Steve to a new chapter in his professional career and into the position of VP and Director of Operations in his son’s company. After the sale of the company, Steve and his wife were off to Florida to enjoy sunny days and no more Maryland winters. Not one to ever sit still for more than five minutes, it wasn’t long until his son brought him on board at Kopec Insurance as a licensed agent in 2005. He is one of those people that simply has to be doing something! Steve enjoys doing just about anything out in the sun but most of all watching his grandson surf!
